What are the age limits for the races?

Participants must be 16 years old or above as 18 March 2018. Participant aged under 18 on 18 March 2018 is required to submit the Parent/Guardian’s Consent Form on or before 31st December 2017.

Besides age limits, is there any other entry requirement?

Yes.

ALL 42km participants (including team members) are required to fulfil one of the following requirements between 2016 to 2017. Please submit the valid document after registration:

  • Finisher of Race for Water 30km within the time limit of 6 hours and 30 minutes
  • Finisher of any marathon/ trail-running race beyond 42km

At least 2 team members should be full-time students. Please submit copies of Student ID after successful online application before 31st December 2017.

At least 2 team members should be from the same organization. A Drop of Life reserves the right to ask the team to present their employment proof.

What are the categories? Are all the runners entitle to compete for the awards which set for all categories?

There are two categories: CHALLENGE and EXPERIENCE. Each participant can only register for ONE race. The Organizer reserves the right to limit and refuse any application. Only participants of CHALLENGE races are entitled to compete for the awards, but not for EXPERIENCE. Details are at below:

Would there be special transportation arrangement on the Race Day?

In order to avoid traffic jam, taking public transportation or shuttle bus arranged by organiser (Route: Causeway Bay to Start Point) is highly recommended for travelling to start point. Participants can buy tickets for shuttle bus during registration, with a fee of HK$15 and 40 minutes travelling time.Participants are advised to arrive at starting point at least 1 hour prior to start time of the race. When the registration starts? How much is the entry fee? How much for minimum donation? Is there any fundraising award?

The registration period is 25 September 2017 to 27 October 2017. Application after the registration period would not be accepted. Details of entry fee, minimum donation and fundraising award:

Do I have to pay the minimum donation during registration

No. You may pay the minimum donation at the fundraising page, which will be set up after registration; or you may submit by the donation form. Minimum donation should be submitted on or before 31 December 2107 as completion of application procedures.

How do I make the payment for online registration?

You may make the online payment via credit card (Master Card, Visa Card and American Express).

May I change the receipt information after online registration?

Yes. If you have paid the minimum donation during online registration, you can change receipt information ONCE before 31 January 2018 at your fundraising page.

What should I do if no notification received after registration?

An acknowledge email will be sent once your registration is submitted. If you experience system error and do not receive any of the above, please call A Drop of Life: (852) 2735 8377 or send email to info@adropoflife.org

What can I do if i cannot attend the race after registration?

Only application of withdrawal with medical reasons received by the Organizer before 18 March 2018 will be considered. If approved, Medical documents issued by medical practitioners (registered to The Medical Council of Hong Kong or Overseas Governmental Medical Authorities) must be submitted to the Organiser for follow-up. An administration charge of $100 will be applied for the refund and the leftover registration fee will be refunded by mail 1 month after race finished. Donation will NOT be refunded under any circumstance. Please note both bib and timing chip are non-transferable. You must NOT transfer your bib and the timing ship to another person for their participation in the race, or both persons will be disqualified.

How can I get the special edition T-shirt?

For participants whose donation reach designated amount on or before 31 December 2017 would be awarded a Special Edition T-shirt. It will be a personalised T-shirt with an unique name printed (not more than 10 English, numeric or special characters).

Can I change team member?

Yes, but changes of team leader, race category, group, start time or race distance are not allowed. You can only change team member(s) with same gender. The maximum number of changeable team member as below:

Team of 4: Maximum 2 members can be changed

Team of 4 Academic Institution: Maximum 2 members can be changed (please submit Student ID)

Team of 4 Corporate Cup: Maximum 2 members can be changed (at least 2 members should be from the same organization)

Any fee for changing member(s)?

Yes. The change of member fee is non-refundable. It cannot be regarded as donation so it is not tax-deductible.  Details as below:

How to count the race finishing time of teams?

Every participant should finish the race by following the required route. The finishing time of last team member will be counted.

When and where can I pick up my Race Pack?

Race pack will be sent to the provided address. The courier fee will be paid by the recipient and team race pakc will be delivered to a single address. For more details of the courier fee, please refer to S.F. Express website.

Would it be possible to authorize another person to pick up my runner’s pack on my behalf?

Yes. The representative must present his/her name, telephone number and ID card number for recording.

Would it be possible to change the size of T-shirt?

No. The size of T-shirt cannot be changed after registration. There is no guarantee that your selected size will be available, T-shirt sizes given to participants will be subject to stock availability.

What are included in the Runner’s Pack?

Each Runner’s Pack includes the followings:

  • Runner Bib (Please make sure the name, gender and category are correct)
  • Timing chip (attached behind the bib)
  • Baggage Tag
  • Race T-shirt (size of the T-shirt cannot be changed)
  • Foldable Reusable Cup
When can I pick up the Race Basket?

NO race basket will be distributed on race day. Please collect your Race Basket at 6 – 7 January 2018 in A Drop of Life Office (11am – 7:00pm, Room 1915, Star House, 3 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon).

If you are unavailable at the above time, you may collect your Race Basket at 2 – 4 March 2018 in i-Runners (Tuesday – Saturday: 12pm – 8:30pm; Sun 2pm-8:30pm, Unit 904, 9/F, Wah Shing Centre, 11-13 Shing Yip Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon)

Can I use my own backpack instead of Race Basket during the race?

Participants should carry the water basket and 4.5L water provided by the organizer. Participants may add removable materials on shoulder straps and materials for holding the water bottle on the basket. Other assisting materials will not be allowed. Violators will be disqualified. No refund of entry fee will be entertained under any circumstance.

Can I find anyone to help on carrying my Race Basket?

Participants must carry the water basket and water by themselves. Assistance in any kind is only allowed within the team. Non-team member cannot provide any support within the race. Violators will be disqualified.

What should I wear to run?

Please put on proper sportswear and running shoes. Remember to put the bib (with the timing chip) on your chest clearly visible at all times during the race to enable race officials to identify your race number.

What should I bring with me on race day?

You must bring the Bib and Safety Pins to the race. If you wish to deposit your belongings, please bring along the official baggage tag provided by the Organizer, and deposit them at the designated location, with at least 20 minutes before your Start Time. Please do not deposit valuable item(s). The Organizer will not be responsible for any loss or damage.

Does the Organizer provide pre-race training?

Yes. Please stay tuned with our website and Facebook for more updates.

Do I need to purchase my own insurance?

Participants on designated route are covered by event insurance of Group Public Accident and Public Liability on race day only, including without limitation negligence. Participants are advised to take up their own personal or other insurance policies separately. Participants are also advised to seek medical advice before the race to check if they are fit enough to complete the distance they have entered.

If I forget to bring my bib on the race day, can I redeem it?

No. No bib will be distributed on the race day. If you forget to bring your bib, you would not be allowed to start the race.

Do I need to report to any officials for check-in upon my arrival on the Race Day?

No, after depositing your baggage (if you require this service from the Organizer), you should proceed to the Waiting Zone. You will be guided to the Start Area by Race Officials 10 minutes before the Start Time of your race.

There might be queues at the baggage area, please allow sufficient time for completing baggage deposit services.

When will I get the 4.5L water?

The water bottle will be disturbed at Race Day.

Will cut off times be set for the races?

Yes. In order to provide an orderly organized competition for participants, cut off times will be set (10 minutes after Start Time). The access to the Start Area will be blocked by Race Officials to prevent further access of the late participants. Participants should start the race according to the specified starting time, violators will be disqualified.

What if I arrive at Checkpoints or Water Stations after the closing time?

Participants who fail to arrive at all checkpoints and Water Stations before closing will be disqualified. Participants can continue their race after on, but only Certificate of Participation will be distributed, instead of Certificate of Completion. There is no Finishing Time indicated on Certificate of Participation.

Do I have to pass through all timing sensors?

Participants should pass through all timing sensors allocated on the race route. For participants who fail to pass anyone of the sensors will be regarded as incomplete.

When the Race Basket and water bottle will be checked?

Participants will be asked to inspect both the basket and the water bottle at “Water checking booth” at finish point. If the water has been disposed consumed or opened, the participants’ race will be considered as incomplete.

The Organizer suggests participants to check their baskets and bottles from time to time during the race. In case of any damage of the basket during the race, participants can inform our event staff at the nearest checkpoint or water station to exchange one to continue the race. Unloading the basket and water without reasonable justification during the race is strictly prohibited.

What should I do if I need to withdraw from the race after I started?

You should proceed to the nearest Checkpoint or Water Station, unload your basket and water bottle, and declare your intention to withdraw from the race. Please make your own transport arrangement for leaving.

Where should I go after crossing the Finish Line?

Due to limited space, participants upon crossing the Finishing Line are required to leave the Finish Area and Refreshment Area as quickly as possible. Winners can wait beside stage. You may also pick up your baggage at the designated location.

Where is the baggage deposit area? When will it be closed?

Baggage handling services are provided free of charge at the 1/F Hall of Start Point. It will be closed at 7:00 pm.

Please firstly go to the Basket Handling Area to prepare your Race Basket and personal belongings before depositing your baggage. The Organizer recommended every participant to bring enough cash and charged mobile for life-saving purposes. Participants can only pick up their baggage after the race. Baggage deposit services should be done 20 minutes before Start Time.

What can I do if my baggage is lost?

You can seek for assistance at the baggage collection area.

How long does it take to collect the baggage?

Participants may collect their baggage right after the race. The baggage deposit area will be closed at 7:00 pm.

What will happen if I start in the wrong race?

No results and no certificate will be provided if you start at any Start Time other than the one assigned to you, or category other than the one you registered.

What will happen if I exchanged or transferred my Bib and Timing Chip with/to another?

Bib and Timing Chips are non-transferable once your entry is accepted. Upon discovery of such irregularities, participants will be disqualified.

Where can I unload the water bottle, due to physical strength reasons?

Participants could unload the basket and water in any of the checkpoints for physical strength reasons.

What will be the arrangement for bad weather?

If Red/Black Rainstorm Warning/Typhoon Signal No.3 or above is issued before 4:00 am at the Race Day, the race will be cancelled. The Organizer will send a notification via text message at 5:00 am. The event will not be rescheduled. Donation and registration fee will not be refunded.

If the above Inclement Weather/Condition Warnings is hoisted after the commencement of race, the Race Director has the right to stop or cancel the race. All participants should beware of the announcements from the Organizer and immediately go to a safe place to stay temporarily.

What if I forgot to bring my Bib with Timing Chip on the Race Day? Will there be another Timing Chip assigned to me?

Bib and Timing Chip will not be distributed on the Race Day. Please remember to bring your Bib with Timing Chip on the Race Day.

Can I exchange my Timing Chip to other people?

No. Each Timing Chip with its number that matches with the participants’ information and it is being matched before the race. Therefore the Timing Chip is not able to be changed, or exchanged or sold to other people. Otherwise, you and the transferee will be both disqualified from the race.

What can I get after finishing the race?

Participants completed the race will receive a Certificate of Completion or Participation, and a Finisher Medal.

What are the differences between Certificate of Completion and Participation?

Certificate of Completion – Completed the official route with water bottle remain unopened and intact.

Certificate of Participation – Completed the official route with water bottle unloaded/opened/consumed.

When and where can I check my result?

The list of winners will be announced on the result board at the Finish Area on Race Day. Full results of all finishers who completed the race within the Time Limit will be announced via the Organizer website on 20 March 2018.

Can I look for my result if I run beyond the time limit?

According to the race regulations, your result will not be published on the website.

Are prizes presented according to Official ("Gun") or Net Time?

All prizes will be awarded according to Gun Times and this is in accordance with the IAAF competition rules for Marathons. Net times are for personal reference only.

When will be the results announced?

18 March 2018 – The winner/winning team of each group will be announced at finish point

20 March 2018 – Finish time can be checked on Race for Water website

20 March 2018 – Initial result with ranking can be checked on Race for Water website

26 March 2018 – Official result can be checked and e-certificate can be downloaded on Race for Water website

Where and when will the Prize Presentation Ceremony be conducted?

The Prize Presentation Ceremony will commence at the Finish Area on the Race Day. All awarded winners will be invited to receive their awards.

If I wish to dispute and appeal regarding the results on race day, what should I do?

For awards winners or potential Awards winners wishing to dispute the results, appeals must be raised within 15 minutes after announcement of the result or immediately after award presentation (whichever comes first). The Organizer reserves the right not to entertain any dispute or appeal. After the race, for any participants wishing to dispute the results, appeals must be submitted by written email within 4 hours after initial result being announced on Race for Water website. Where and when do the prize winners report to the race officials?

Winners must report to the race officials 20 minutes before the presentation at the Winners Booth located at the Finish Area. If winners failed to attend the Prize Presentation Ceremony on time, Race Officials will be the representatives to redeem his/her prize without any notice in advance.
