Terms & Conditions
  1. Participants must be at or above 16 years-old by 18 March 2018.Parents or guardian consent form is required for participants under the age of 18.
  2. The registration deadline is on 27 October 2017. Late registration will not be accepted.
  3. Each participant can only registration for one category only. The Organiser reserves the right to reject any registration.
  4. No ranking or award will be given to participants in Experience category.
  5. If the participants decided to withdraw from the event under any circumstances, registration fees and donation proceeds will not be refunded.
  6. Group Public Accident and Public liability insurance is covered by the organizer. This does not include personal accident insurance. We recommend all participants to purchase your own personal accident insurance and other relevant insurance according to your needs.
  7. By registering, you grant the Organiser the right to use photographs, sounds, video or any record of the event for future promotional purpose.
  8. Participants must follow all the rules and regulations. You may refer to the event website for more details.
  9. If the event is cancelled due to adverse weather or other unforeseen condition, registration fees and donation proceeds will not be refunded.
  10. All prizes will be awarded according to Gun Times and this is in accordance with the IAAF competition rules for Marathons.
  11. Participants should start the race according to the specified starting time, violators will be disqualified.
  12. Participants should pass through all checkpoints. Participants who fail to arrive at all checkpoints before closing will be disqualified.
  13. 42km race participants who have not passed through Checkpoint.3 (Black’s Link) before 2:15pm will be cut off from continuing the 42km race, but may choose to complete the 30km race (category of Experience) instead. 42km participants who finish the 30km race will be considered as 30km race finisher and receive a 30km completion certificate. However, they will not be eligible to get any prizes of the 30km race.
  14. Participants must use the race basket and shoulder straps provided by the Organiser (but not other carrier, backpack or straps) to carry the 4.5L bottled water. Reusable and removable materials may be used to wrap around the straps to provide comfort or put into the basket to fix the position of the 4.5 litre water bottle. Other assisting materials will not be allowed. Violators will be disqualified. All add-on materials must be removed before returning the basket and straps to the Organiser.
  15. Participants must carry the water basket and water by themselves. Violators will be disqualified.
  16. Assistance in any kind is only allowed within the team. Non-team member cannot provide any support within the race. Violators will be disqualified.
  17. Participants must bring and display race bib (with timing chip) clearly visible on chest during the race, and are required to cross the timing mats located at the start point, finish point and other timing locations. In case of any improper use of bib or participants’ failure to step on all the timing mats, The Organizer will not be responsible for any failure of timing record. For participants who fail to pass anyone of the sensors may be regarded as incomplete.
  18. Participants should read the race route carefully and follow the instructions and signage set on the route. Racing on unofficial routes or using short-cuts is strictly prohibited and will be disqualified.
  19. Participants will be asked to inspect both the basket and the water bottle at “Water checking booth” at finishing point. If the water has been disposed consumed or opened, the participants’ race will be considered as incomplete.
  20. Participants completed the race will receive a Certificate of Completion or Participation, Finisher Medal and a Finisher Souvenir.
    – Certificate of Completion – Completed the official route with water bottle remain unopened and intact.
    – Certificate of Participation – Completed the official route with water bottle unloaded/opened/consumed.
  21. Participation on “Race for Water” should be done voluntarily. The Organizer and all its sponsors, promoters, supporters, and all other contributors will not be responsible for any accident of whatever kind, resulting in death or injury, and/or any damage, loss or destruction of personal properties participants may suffer in this event from any cause whatsoever, including negligence.
  22. Participants should understand the potential risks involved in taking part in the event and acknowledge the degree of fitness required. Participants should ensure that they are physically fit to finish the race. Any person who is pregnant or suffering from any chronic disease such as heart disease or high blood pressure should not participate in the Event. The Organizer reserves the right to deny the registration of any person who is known to have the above condition.
  23. Participants are strictly prohibited from swapping, selling or transferring the registration entry. Any breach of this rule will result in disqualification and no refund will be done.
  24. Participants will be disqualified and asked to leave the race route if he/she carries substances which are dangerous or may impede the progress of the activity (e.g. offensive weapons, inflammable or explosive substances) within the race area.
  25. The Organiser reserves the right to divide participants in different groups under the same timeslot to the selected timeslot to avoid unnecessary congestions.
  26. Participants could unload the basket and water in any of the checkpoints for physical strength reasons.
  27. In case of any damage of the basket during the race, participants can inform our event staff at the nearest checkpoint or water station to exchange one to continue the race. Unloading the basket and water without reasonable justification during the race is strictly prohibited.
  28. The Prize Presentation Ceremony will commence at the Finish Area on the Race Day. All awarded winners will be invited to receive their awards. Winners must report to the race officials 20 minutes before the presentation at the Winners Booth located at the Finish Area. If winners failed to attend the Prize Presentation Ceremony on time, Race Officials will be the representatives to redeem his/her prize without any notice in advance.
  29. The Organizer reserves the right to adjust the race route before and during the race without prior notice for unexpected road conditions. The race maybe temporarily suspended in case of any emergency situation for life-saving purposes. In case of emergency situation, participants should follow the instructions of onsite event staff or law enforcement officers.
  30. The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any person and his or her result due to any violation, breach or non-observance of any laws and regulations in Hong Kong or the event race rules. No refund will be given to any violators.
  31. All participants must comply with the race rules. For details, please refer to the Race Booklet.
  32. The Organizer reserves the right to revise all the above terms and conditions at any time without further notice. In case of any dispute, the decision of The Organizer should be final.
  33. In case of discrepancies between the English and the Chinese versions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
